The HLRC editorial team would like to inform our community of readers, authors, and peer reviewers that Dr. Gary J. Burkholder will be stepping down as editor-in-chief as of February 8, 2018. During his tenure, which began in 2015, the HLRC became indexed in ERIC, Directory of Open Access Journals, and J-Gate, and the editorial team began the journal’s now continuous presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. These combined endeavors have significantly broadened the journal’s dissemination and potential audiences. Dr. Burkholder also incorporated educational outreach as a guiding principal of the journal. As such, HLRC’s editorial team has invested significant resources in training scholars and practitioners in the peer-reviewed publication process, as well as in campaigns designed to train and provide hands on experience to advanced doctoral students as they serve as peer reviewers. We want to thank Dr. Burkholder for his leadership and commitment to HLRC.
With Dr. Burkholder’s departure, the editorial team welcomes Dr. Oscar Hipólito as the new editor-in-chief. Dr. Hipólito currently serves as the chief academic officer for Laureate Brazil, which encompasses a network of 12 higher education institutions.
